Northeast China Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall

The Northeast China Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, located at Harbin of Heilongjiang Province and opened to the public on October 10, 1948, is a Chinese revolutionary memory hall.

The memorial hall is a three-storeyed building built in 1931 in the Western European classic architectural style. In September 1933, the puppet police department occupied this building and turned it into a location for the Japanese aggressors to suppress the Chinese people. Zhao Yiman, an anti-Japanese national heroine, walked away from here to the execution ground after being cruelly tortured. The memorial hall has collected over 7,000 items and over 5,000 pieces of historical information. Important collections include the mattress once used by General Yang Jingyu, an anti-Japanese national hero, a pair of trousers worn by General Li Zhaolin when he was assassinated by the KMT special agent, and a Mao Zedong Medal, a special medal for military merit conferred to Dong Cunrui, a combat hero known nationwide to blow off the enemy fortification with an explosive package supported with one of his hands.

The Memorial Hall covers an area of 4,283 square meters with 1,200 square meters of floor space for display. The exhibits mainly show the deeds of representative martyrs that are of great influence and typical significance in the northeastern region.
