2013-03-04 09:03:14

The sixth China International Piano Competition will be held in the city of Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province from Nov. 16 to 26, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) said Thursday.

The event, which will be jointly held by the MOC and the Xiamen municipal government, will include the participation of world-class pianists as judges to ensure its quality, the MOC said.

The triennial competition is part of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and one of three international arts events hosted by the MOC.

Judges will select six winners who will receive prizes ranging from 5,000 to 30,000 US dollars.

To attract more participants, event organizers are providing Asian pianists with a 300-US-dollar travel subsidy, while competitors from outside of Asia are eligible for travel subsidies worth 700 US dollars each.
