It was Friday, Feb 6, a sunny, warm day. I have been waiting for this year, for a year, actually, not only me, but also my younger brother was waiting for that day too .

Imagine the day. Imagine the big garden with green grass and all the people around you are happy and smiling to each other from ear to ear. You can hear no voices except the voices of laughing kids who are flying their kites. The sound of their laughter was just like music to my ear. Although I am an adult, I had my own kite also, it was a blue eagle kite and it was up high in the sky.

On this day I am used to meeting my friends, Chinese friends and Egyptian friends, and it’s also an opportunity to get to know new friends and exchange cultures with them. This year I got to know three new friends who were so nice to me during the day. We’re still in contact now, so I consider the Chinese festival day a day to get a lifetime friendship.

In Fact , this day was different compared with the last year’s celebration , because this year I spent the day wearing Chinese traditional costumes , I felt that I was half Chinese , because I am an Egyptian girl but I was speaking Chinese and wearing Chinese traditional costume.

I was chosen to welcome the Chinese ambassador. I was so happy to be selected to welcome him. During waiting for the ambassador to arrive on the island, I enjoyed watching some young people practicing the dragon dance with a yellow bright dragon .

The stage was full of music, enthusiasm and gorgeous shows. There were a lot of people watching the shows, so I watched the shows from the last row. I felt so happy not being a short girl - haha after that I moved to the best part of the day, the food. I was convinced that it would not have been completed without the mouthwatering Chinese food. While eating, I noticed some Egyptian young people who could not use the Chinese chopsticks. they asked for my help and so I showed them how to use the chopsticks.

There was a calligrapher in the island and I asked him to write my Chinese name. He wrote on a white paper and he told me that I have a nice name and it is related to the Chinese Spring Festival. My Chinese name is “ 春美” , which means “ the beauty of the spring" , so he said that my name describes the day and his words made me so happy .

The day passed so quickly. Twenty-four hours passed like 24 minutes. The Chinese Spring Festival. A day to remember.
