20100819 11th issue, 2003 On October 15, 2003, “Shenzhou V”, a manned spaceship developed by Chinese scientists themselves, was successfully launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, sending China’s first astronaut, Yang Liwei, into the outer space. This launch marked a historic event in China’s history of manned space flight and made China among the countries which can conduct manned space flight activities independently.

20100820 9th issue, 2004 On August 27, 2004, Chinese athlete Liu Xiang won the gold medal for men’s 110m curdle at the 28th Summer Olympic Games. He created a landmark record and became the pride of Chinese people. Liu is not only the first Chinese Olympic champion for track events but also the first Asian champion for Olympic short-distance running events.
