Gala dinner in honor of Expo participants

The Expo 2010 Organizer hosted a gala dinner for all the participants at the Expo Center last night. More than 500 people from participating countries and organizations enjoyed the event that featured the Chinese musical, "Jasmine Flower."

Wan Jifei, executive director of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo Executive Committee and chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of all the participants.

"China shall learn from the experiences and new ideas as you presented in the World Expo to accelerate its economic reform and embrace the future with a more open attitude," he said.

The gala dinner was aimed at promoting understanding and cooperation among all participants, Wan added.

Shanghai Executive Vice Mayor Yang Xiong said Expo Shanghai had been running smoothly for 103 days thanks to joint efforts of participants. "The good tie between us all is the key factor for the success of Expo Shanghai," he said.

The vice mayor pledged continued efforts in the next three months to cooperate with all participants and provide good service for them and visitors as well.

The name of the mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is Hai Bao, which means the treasure of the sea.

The emblem, depicting the image of three people-you, me, him/her holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind.
