China Pavilion to remain open for half a year after Expo

The closing date of the Shanghai World Expo will not be postponed. However, the eye-catching China Pavilion will remain open for at least half a year after the closing ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo, said Yu Zhengsheng, secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, during a recent interview concerning the 100th day of the World Expo.

The specific operating scheme of the China Pavilion after the closing of expo still needs to be further detailed. Yu revealed, "There may not be reservation tickets afterwards, and may just open during regular working hours and maintain a normal rhythm of tourist flow."

During the exclusive interview, Yu also answered the question of whether the most popular pavilions that people are concerned about will be kept. Yu said, "Whether or not these pavilions will be dismantled? In principle, they will be dismantled, and the World Expo participants are responsible for dismantling their pavilions and restoring the area to its former condition in a limited time."

However, there are exceptions. The pavilions that the World Expo participants and the organizer both believe are worth keeping can be kept." Therefore," Yu added, "As for the Shanghai World Expo, a few pavilions may be kept and the rest of them will be dismantled in principle. However, whether these pavilions will be kept or not, and which ones will be kept is still under discussion."
