China ICH Emblem

The outer ring, a symbol of eternal circulation, and the inner square symbolize the circular heaven and the square earth - an ancient Chinese belief of the universe's composition. The fish pattern in the centre, one of the earliest patterns Chinese ancestors painted on earthenware, forms a Chinese character, "文," which refers to culture. The fish, which is associated with water, symbolizes the sustainable conservation and development of ICH. The character "文" embraced in an abstract pattern of hands, signifies joint efforts to safeguard and salvage ICH and our spiritual homeland.
