Thirty-four masterpieces by celebrated Mexican muralist Diego Rivera (1886-1957) are on display at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing through Dec 9.

Belonging to the cultural heritage of the State of Veracruz, the exhibition includes Rivera‘s works that include landscapes created in 1904 to figurative paintings from 1956. They represent a 52-year retrospective of Rivera’s work. It features various artistic techniques Rivera used, such as oil painting, watercolor, collage and pencil, coal and ink drawings. The collection is organized into different themes, presenting different aspects of art history, such as naturalism, cubism and scenes from indigenous daily life that deeply influenced Mexican painters of his time.

One more reason to enjoy this great exhibition is that some unique pieces made during Rivera‘s stay in Europe will be seen, the first time on show in Asia.
