Other staff members included: Shen Ao (stage designer), Mo Xiaomin (costume designer), Xing Xin (lighting designer), Feng Jiangzhou (new media artist) and Li Sihan (image designer). Outstanding dancers Song Jie, Li Qian and Chai Mingming were cast as the leading roles of “Peony”, “Poppy” and “Goddess of Flowers” respectively. They danced with 20 supporting dancers who played fairies of the flowers. All the dancers were young, beautiful and graceful.

Wonderful Plot

Theme of the plotline of “Peony” include rainbow, flowers with elegance, great virtue, matchless beauty, glamour, benevolence, puzzle, struggle, sorrow, nirvana, praise, peace and renascence.

Virtuous and kind-hearted, “Peony” was favored by “Goddess of Flowers”. It caused the jealousy in “Poppy”. She began to lure the goddess, controlling her mind and destroying the peaceful world.

“Peony” adored the goddess, took pity on “Poppy”, and cared about others. In order to restore world peace, she sacrificed her life. Fortunately, her virtue reclaimed “Poppy”.

Peony has been considered the national flower of China, symbolizing the spirit of “dedication”. It is the same spirit that is extolled in “Peony”. With strong artistic charm, the drama has aroused great interest from audiences and won their applause.

Promoting the Cultural Exchange between China and the US

“Peony” has earned a high reputation. It is regarded as a drama with “grand beauty and great love” by prominent artists Qin Yan and Yi Jinsheng.

Xu Fei, the dramatist, was concerned whether the foreigners could understand the meaning of the drama. The answer, however, was unanimously affirmative.
