Ninety-nine ceramic sculptures by Swedish couple Ulla and Gustav Kraitz, based on ancient Chinese flame firing techniques dating back to the Song Dynasty (AD 960-1279), are on display at the Capital Museum.
The exhibition, From Song Dynasty Shard to Modern Swedish Art, will run until June 12 and groups their works under several themes such as human body, animal, fruit and daily articles.
A highlight of the display is the series Apples, which draws attention with their glazed reddish-brown color and unusual size.
Twelve ceramic apples are placed around and covered with smooth enamel. Standing among them, one feels like being in the Brobdingnag of Gulliver's Travels with edible super apples.
The magnified ceramic apples, together with other works such as Plate, Cushions, Shells and Horses, gives visitors a fresh perspective on the beauty of everyday life.
