Scotland Pipe Band

When it comes to the Scottish bagpipes, people can easily picture the scene - a group of musicians, men and women, dressed in the same formal Scottish costumes with kilts, playing their instruments they carry as they parade around.

When it comes to the Scottish bagpipes, people can easily picture the scene - a group of musicians, men and women, dressed in the same formal Scottish costumes with kilts, playing their instruments they carry as they parade around.

Audiences in Zhangjiajie will have a good chance to get up close and personal to pipers from Scotland who will take to the stage during the international country music week.

The Bagpipes are considered the pre-eminent instrument in Scotland today. They have a nine note chanter, two tenor drones and a bass drone. The instrument is found in all walks of life, such as clan society, army, community, pipe bands and among ordinary people and pupils in schools. The Scottish bagpipes are now found all over the world.

A pipe band is a musical ensemble consisting of pipers and drummers. In conventional pipe band music, each section of instruments has a different role in the band. Generally, the pipers deliver the melodic and harmonic material, while the side drummers provide a rhythmically interactive accompaniment. The tenor drummers provide the fundamental rhythmic pulse and the bass drummer anchors the rhythms, providing a strong and steady beat. The roles of each section are broken down further below.
