Andersen's fairy tales come into Xi'an

 The exhibition "The Everlasting Charm of Fairy Tales - Centennial of H.C. Andersen's Fairy Tales into China" was unveiled at Xi'an Museum in Xi’an, Shaanxi province on Nov 12.

The exhibition, first unveiled in Beijing in September, about the Danish writer showed off his paper-cuts and illustrations from his fairy tales as well asartifacts from his childhood.

As a part of the exhibition, the museum is providing a LEGO playing space for children, a reading area for Andersen’s fairy tale picture books and a stage area for performances. The staff even laid 20 mattresses on a bed to bring to life the famous bed from Andersen’sThe Princess and the Pea.

In collaboration with Odense City Museum of Denmark, the exhibition is free to public and will run through until Jan 5, 2015.

The exhibition will visit Nanjing, Jiangsu province,Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and Dalian, Liaoning province in the coming months.
