Collection of Quality Chinese Ceramic Ware

 

Chinese ceramic ware is an art form that has been developing since the imperial dynasties. Richly endowed with the raw materials needed for making ceramics, China has long been taking the lead in the world ceramic manufacturing.

Painted pottery jar

Date: ca 20th century —15th century B.C.

Height: 30cm

 

Research shows that the first types of ceramics were made about 11,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic era. This jar was used for storage of food and water in ancient times. Marked with patterns of taotie, a mythical beast, it pointed ahead for the development of those ceramic relics produced in Shang Dynasty (ca 17th century—11th century) and Zhou Dynasty (1066 B.C.—265 B.C.).

Soldiers from the Terracotta Army

Date: Qin Dynasty (221 B.C.-206 B.C.)  

 

The soldier is picked up out of the terracotta army that is conceived as a bodyguard of the tomb’s owner—Qinshihuang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. The soldier here is preparing to shoot an arrow and conjure up the grand scene of fierce battles.
