Former residence of Cai Yuanpei

The three-story villa is the former residence of Cai Yuanpei, the renowned educationist and president of Peking University from 1916 to 1927. The dark wooden frame and the red-tiled sloping roof are so charming that Hong has drawn the house from different angles. The house is open to the public from 9 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday to Sunday

Address: 16, Lane 303, Huashan Road, Jing'an district

Lanes near Jing'an Temple

Near the Jing'an Temple there are a lot of secluded lanes and old houses. At the junction of Huashan and West Yan'an roads, Hong was attracted by the contrast of old and new—down the lane and behind a pile of old houses towers a skyscraper.
