Wang Xijing was born in 1946. He is the director of the Chinese Artists Association, vice-chairman of Shaanxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles and chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Association of Artists.

He is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi People's Political Consultative Conference, president of the Xi'an Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting and chairman of the Xi'an Municipal Association of Artists.

He has won the professional title of first-rate artist granted by the State. He also holds various current and honorary academic posts such as professor at the Chinese Academy of Art Research Institute and at Northwest University, as well as at Yunnan University and the Xi'an Fine Arts Institute. He has also served as the honorary president and professor at the Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology's Art College, visiting professor at Singapore's Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, at the Malaysian Academy of Art and Thailand Oriental Calligraphy and Painting.

During the past four decades, Wang has had more than 5,000 paintings featured in a variety of newspapers and periodicals in China and abroad. He has also published over 60 collections of artistic and academic works.

Since the late 1970s, Wang has been invited to many countries and regions to hold solo exhibitions and give lectures in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Thailand, South Korea and Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Hefei.

In 2000, Wang won the International Academy Award and Medal of Culture and Education from the Japanese government.

In 2002, he was awarded the International Contribution Prize at the International Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Seoul.

In 2003, he won the golden medal in the Exhibition of the International Festival of Fine Arts held by Japan, China and South Korea, and a special prize at the Beijing International Festival of Fine Arts.

In 2005, he won the special prize at the France International Exhibition of Fine Arts Salon.
