Chinese theater troupe performs 'Snipe, Clam and Fish' in Thailand

The actors and crew of the play Snipe, Clam and Fish from the China National Theater for Children were in Thailand Dec 12 to 16, at the invitation of the Thai-Chinese Culture Promotion Committee and Bangkok China Cultural Center.
The first show in Bangkok
A series of plays, such as The Mermaid in the East Sea, The Three Monks, and Idiom Stories, based on traditional Chinese culture are welcomed by people all over the world. The play Snipe, Clam and Fish is new and tells the story of the snipe and clam, which means a third person will benefit from the struggle between two people. The Chinese style of the setting and performance were appreciated by the audience, comprised of people from 46 countries who attended the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2018 in Beijing. It was a new stage for international communication in Chinese theater.
To accelerate the spread of Chinese culture and Chinese plays, as well as to promote the development of communication between Thai and Chinese theaters for children, the China National Theater for Children came to Thailand and performed in Bangkok. Previously, the troupe performed the play, Journey to the West there, but this marked the first time that Snipe, Clam and Fish was performed in Thailand.

Thousands from Bangkok and nearby cities came to the performances on Dec 14 and 15. Tickets for the play were sold out. Students from schools far from Bangkok and who had to travel brought their own lunches to catch the show.

Adults and children in the audience were deeply impressed by the play and officials present sang its praises.
TCITV, Zhonghua Daily, Sing Sian Yer Pao Daily News and other news outlets reported on the performance. Snipe, Clam and Fish is another success after Journey to the West, which has gained favor with people all over the world and increased the popularity of the China National Theater for Children.
A new stage of Thai-Chinese communication in culture
With traditional cultural elements such as Chinese philosophy, music, drama, martial arts and painting, the play Snipe, Clam and Fish demonstrates the charm of Chinese culture in an all-round way, which successfully promotes the spread of Chinese culture in Thailand and shows a high degree of cultural confidence in the field of theater for children.

Pan praised the play for its high artistic standard. She also encouraged China National Theater for Children to spread Chinese culture to people all over the world at the same level of excellence.
Thailand and China are in Asia and the two countries have a lot in common regarding culture. It is of great importance to spread Chinese culture to Thailand because a number of projects there are part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese embassy in Thailand warmly welcomes China National Theater for Children to perform in Thailand more often, so that Thai audiences can feel the great power of Chinese art, and that Thai children can learn about Chinese culture at an early age. Meanwhile, the embassy spoke highly of the cultural communication between the two countries.
Lan Suhong, director of the Bangkok Chinese Cultural Center, and Zhang Bo, the vice director, reviewed their cooperation with China National Theater for Children in the past. It was the first time for the troupe to travel to Thailand after performing the play, Journey to the West, and they have achieved and will further achieve great progress in cultural exchange.
Ambassador Philip expressed his interest in Chinese; Ben Napeng, the senior leader, also expressed her welcome to the Chinese theater group for children.
