1. On January 7, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of China International Culture Association (CICA) was invited to attend and address the opening ceremony of "Exhibition of Sino-Japanese Theatrical Exchange in 50 Years (Beijing)" in The Central Academy of Drama. The exhibition, co-hosted by the Central Academy of Drama and Japanese Executive Committee of "Exhibition of Sino-Japanese Theatrical Exchange in 50 Years (Beijing)", lasted from January 6 to 10, 2008. In addition to the exhibition, dozens of celebrities in Chinese and Japanese theatrical circles were also invited to attend the Seminar on "Exhibition of Sino-Japanese Theatrical Exchange in 50 Years (Beijing) - Retrospect and Prospect" from January 7 to 8.
2. On January 15, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA attended Urasenke New Year’s Tea Party.
3. From February 4 to 11, at the invitation of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Dubai Helfant Co., Ltd. in The United Arab Emirates, CICA assigned 20-member delegation of Chinese Coal Mining Cultural Group to Egypt and Dubai for Spring Festival Evening Show.
4. From February 15 to 23, under the arrangement of CICA, Department of Culture of Jiangxi Province sent a 7-member puppetry troupe in Jiangxi Province for the first International Puppet Art Festival in Hanoi of Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnam Ministry of Culture, and won five gold medals for individual performances, and a bronze medal for production
5. On February 22, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA was invited to attend the "Long Lasting Friendly Relationship between China and Japan" arts festival and delivered speeches. This festival was jointly hosted by Chinese Yan Huang Culture Research Association and Sino-Japanese Friendship Association as well as Japanese Eastern Culture Exchange Association. Chine International Culture Association served as the coordinator for this event.
6. From March 29 to April 4, at the invitation of CICA, 2-member delegation of Portugal's Orient Foundation visited China. The delegation visited Beijing and Shanghai, and signed cultural exchange cooperation agreement from 2008 to 2010 during two conferences with the association.
7. From April 16 to 26, at the invitation of Turkey 4.23 International Children Festival, a 25-member children’s art troupe of China National Children's Center attended "the 30th 4.23 International Children Festival" held in Antalya, Turkey for performance of Chinese folk songs and dances under the arrangement of CICA.
8. From April 17 to April 27, under the sponsorship of CICA, National Art Museum of China and Sino-Japanese Friendship Association, the Hirayama Lkuo Art Exhibition featuring 46 works of Mr Hirayama Lkuo was held in National Art Museum of China. Jia Qinglin (CPPCC Chairman), Sun Jiazheng (CFLAC Chairman and Chairman of CICA), Song Jian (President of Sino-Japanese Friendship Association), Cai Wu (Minister of Culture) and other senior officials attended the opening ceremony on the afternoon of April 17.
9. From May 6 to 15, Kunqu Opera The Peony Pavilion (Chinese-Japanese version) and Kabuki Yang Yuhuan, hosted by CICA, was staged successfully at Beijing Huguang Guild Hall. The leading role of this performance was played Kabuki master Tamasaburo Bando. It was produced jointly by Shochiku Co. Ltd., Suzhou Kunqu Opera in Jiangsu Province and Beijing Menghua Garden Culture Media Co. Ltd. Sun Jiazheng CFLAC Chairman and Chairman of CICA) and Li Hongfeng (Vice Minister of Culture) attended the premiere on May 6.
10. From May 7 to 10, a 2-member CICA delegation led by Deputy Director-General Zhang Rui visited Portugal and attended the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Portugal’s Orient Foundation and inauguration of the Oriental Museum.
11. From May 10 to 14, at the invitation of the organizing committee of "The 12th International Children Music Creation Festival", a 38-member children’s art troupe mainly composed of by Branch Center in Heilongjiang Province attended "The 12th International Children Music Creation Festival " held in Sverdlovsk Oblast of Russia under the auspices of CICA and China National Children's Center.
12. From May 16 to 18, at the invitation of Turkmenistan International Art Exhibition, two folklore artists from Liaoning Province attended "Turkmenistan and World Art Masterpiece" international art exhibition held in Ashkhabad under the arrangement of CICA.
13. On June 25, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA met with a 4-member delegation led by Taizan Yanagida, the principal of School of Yasuyama Calligraphy at the Ministry of Culture.
14. On June 26, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA met with a 5-member delegation led by Japanese friend Kotarou Kawamura. The two parties discussed matters on performance of Japanese traditional art "Kyogen" in China in the following May.
15. On July 2, Sun Jiazheng, the National Vice Chairman of CPPCC, CFLAC Chairman, Chairman of CICA and Zhao Weisui, Vice Minister of Culture and other guests of honor attended the opening performance of "China International Youth Art Week" - Ode to Olympics held in Great Hall of the People. As component of "Meet in Beijing 2008", "China International Youth Art Week" was jointly sponsored by CICA and China Arts and Entertainment Group and presented by Beijing Shengda Arts and Entertainment Co. Ltd. Sun Jiazheng (Vice Chairman) personally inscribed for the art week (Title: "China International Youth Art Week"), Cai Wu (Minister of Culture) wrote an inscription for the art week "Passion creates arts and innovation lights up the future".
16. On July 2, Zhang Rui, Deputy Director-General for External Cultural Relations attended one of the "China International Youth Art Week" series activities-the "Youth-Art-Future" International forum held in the Ministry and made an address on behalf of CICA.
17. On July 11, Pan Zhenzhou, Vice Chairman of CICA met with an 8-member delegation of Thai artists led by Cai Yipi, the president of Artists Association of Thailand and China, and Pachani Zhandasaka, the Director of Thailand National Gallery in the Ministry.
18. On July 13, the closing performance - Youth Commitment of "China International Youth Art Week" jointly sponsored by CICA and China Arts and Entertainment Group and organized by Beijing Shengda Arts and Entertainment Co. Ltd. was held in Great Hall of People. The event has brought the art week to a full conclusion.
19. On August 3, "Light of Life" charity concert was launched in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to support the reconstruction of TCM medical organization in Chinese earthquake stricken areas. Chen Zhu, Minister of Health, Meng Xiaosi, Vice Minister of Culture, Wang Guojiang, Vice Minister of Health and Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other senior officials watched the performance. As an outreach program of Beiijng International Youth Art Week, this charity concert was included in the "Meet in Beijing 2008". It was jointly sponsored by CICA, World Association for Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Euro-China Foundation.
20. From August 17 to 21, the "5th Chinese Culture Summer Camp - Youth Friendly Exchange between China and Japan" was held successfully in Shenyang. At the invitation of CICA, Japanese International Calligraphy Culture Development Association assigned a 37-member delegation for this activity and the delegates interacted with the local Chinese teenagers in Shenyang.
21. From September 17 to 26, according to the "Oriental Culture Research Program" launched by CICA, the Romania Sinologist, Luo Ming and his wife visited China at the invitation of CICA.
22. From September 18 to 29, at the invitation of Portugal Portugal’s Orient Foundation, CICA assigned a dance troupe of Beijing Dance Academy to Portugal for exchange performances.
23. From October 18 to 21, under the sponsorship of CICA,China Association for Promoting Children’s Culture Art and China Foundation for the Development of Social Culture, the 3rd Peace Flag—the World Children Calling for Peace Flag Exhibition was held in Beijing from October 17 to 21, 2008. Yan Junqi, the Vice Chairman of National People’s Congress, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA, Ai Qingchun, Vice Chairman of CICA attended the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony held on the morning of October 18 in China Millennium Monument in Beijing.
24. On October 19, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA attended the awards presentation evening of the 3rd Peace Flag—the World Children Calling for Peace Flag Exhibition in Peace Hotel.
25. On October 24, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA attended the 30th anniversary reception of the Sino-Japanese Peace and Friendship Treaty held in the Great Hall of the People on October 24.
26. From October 20 to 29, according to “Oriental Cultural Research Program” of the Ministry of Culture, the Directors of the National Museums in Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Moldova visited China at the invitation of CICA.
27. On November 6, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA met with Japanese friends Murofusi Jukan and the accompanying delegation at the ministry.
28. On November 11, Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA met with Mansaku Nomura and other Japanese "Kyogen" masters. "Kyogen" is one of the four Japanese dramas favored by the Japanese people. Mansaku Nomura is well-known for being awarded the title of “Living National Treasure” by the Japanese government.
29. From November 24 to 28, a 6-member delegation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries led by Liu Deyou, Executive Vice Chairman of CICA visited ROK from November 24 to 28 and attended the 4th Culture Forum between China, Japan and South Korea in Jejudo, ROK.
30. From November 21 to 27, according to “Oriental Cultural Research Program” of the Ministry of Culture, a delegation of Russia led by Gusev, Russian State Duma studied Beijing 2008 Olympic Games cultural events and related culture works at the invitation of CICA.
31. From November 25 to 30, at the invitation of Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Percussion actor Wang Beibei, the graduate student of Central Conservatory of Music visited Switzerland and presented performances named Water and Paper from Tan Dun with Zurich Chamber Orchestra, and commanded by conductor Tan Dun. This performance is one of the “Oriental Express” project this year.
In 2008, CICA held a total of 31 activities, including 2 exhibitions, 6 performances, 7 comprehensive exchange activities, 4 receptions of visits and 2 outbound visits, etc.
