Events of China International Culture Association (2011)

1. From January 25 to February 1, Li Hongtao Solo Exhibition, jointly hosted by CICA and French International Curatorial Corporation, was held in Kalusi Hall of the Louvre and China Cultural Center in Paris, with 50 works on display. Ambassador Kong Quan, Mr. Pierre Cardin, Minister-Counselor Pu Tong, Director Li Shaoping and CICA representatives attended the opening ceremonies at the above-mentioned venues.

2. From May 7 to 8, sponsored by CICA and organized by Beijing Menghua Tingyuan Co., Ltd, the Sino-Japanese version of Kunqu Opera The Peony Pavilion, in which Japanese kabuki master Tamasaburo Bando acted as the leading role, was staged successfully in Beijing Huguang Guide Hall for the second time. Pan Zhenzhou, Vice Chairman of CICA, hosted a banquet for Tamasaburo Bando and his delegation. Vice Chairman Pan Zhenzhou, Japanese Ambassador Uichiro Niwa, Chief Minister Yokoi Yutaka, Minister Counselor for culture Yamada Shigeo and the other Chinese and Japanese guests were present at the performance.

3. From May 21 to 31, at the invitation of the Organizing Committee of Argentina Iguazu International Youth Music Festival, a 19-member art troupe of Shanghai Theatre Academy participated in the 2nd International Youth Music Festival under the arrangement of CICA, Shanghai International Culture Association and Shanghai Theatre Academy. More than 700 youths from 18 countries and five continents participated in the festival. Yin Hengmin, the Chinese Ambassador to Argentina attended the closing ceremony. CCTV-1 News broadcast, CCTV-13 clock news and CCTV-14 covered the performance.

4. From May 25 to 29, at the invitation of the Organizing Committee of Belarus "Golden Bee" International Arts Festival, a 31-member group of Children's Art Troupe from Tianjin Children's Palace participated in the 11th "Golden Bee" International Arts Festival in Currie Abramovich City of Moggi Liao Minkowski State in Belarus under the arrangement of CICA.

5. From July 5 to 12, a 30-member Uzbekistan Art Troupe visited China for performances. The event was hosted by CICA and organized by Beijing Tianrun Ruiyi Culture Development Co., Ltd.

6. On August 7, the forum on Sino-Japanese version of Kunqu Opera The Peony Pavilion hosted by CICA and organized by Beijing Menghua Tingyuan Co., Ltd., Beijing International Music Community and Beijing Aimu Culture Development Co., Ltd., was held in Beijing Aimu Mansion. Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA attended and addressed the forum.

7. From August 5 to 20, "The 4th Chinese International Youth Arts Week”, co-sponsored by CICA and China Arts and Entertainment Group, was held in Beijing. More than 500 young artists from France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the United States, Japan and China participated in the Art Week activities. The activities included 27 performances, exhibitions and lectures. Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary -General, Xie Jinying, Deputy Director-General for External Cultural Relations, and Zhang Shuxin, Vice General Manager of China Arts and Entertainment Group attended the opening ceremony.

8. From August 11 to 15, at the invitation of CICA, a 14-member Japanese Shanmu Fengfu Music Group and a 12-member jazz band of Xinjing Tainan & Titantang Group visited China for 2 performances and participated in the 4th China International Youth Arts Week.

9. From September 4 to 7, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the sponsorship of the Organizing Committee of Global Painting and Peaceful Journey for World-Renowned Chinese Artists, the outreach activities for international artists entitled "Wind of Peace in September" were held in Harbin and Yichun of Heilongjiang Province. About 30 artists from Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries and China participated in the activities. Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA, was present at the events.

10. From September 26 to October 2, at the invitation of the Portugal’s Orient Foundation, a 4-member delegation of China International Culture Association led by Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA visited Portugal. During the visit, CICA signed the “2011-2013 Exchange and Cooperation Agreement" with Portugal’s Orient Foundation, and attended the opening ceremony of “New Vision - Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition”. The Ambassador Zhang Beisan hosted a welcome reception for the delegation during the visit. The delegation also attended the National Day Reception held by Chinese Embassy in Portugal.

11. From September 30 to October 30, New Vision - China Contemporary Art Exhibition, sponsored by CICA, was presented in Portugal's Orient Foundation Museum. The exhibition was organized by China International Art Exhibition Co., Ltd. under China Arts and Entertainment Group. A total of 32 works from 13 artists were exhibited, including 21 oil paintings, 5 wash paintings, 1 installation photography, 4 installations and 1 video. Dong Junxin, head of the delegation, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA, Meng Zhihao, Chairman of Portugal's Orient Foundation and Li Weikun, the Cultural Counselor of Cultural Section of Chinese Embassy in Portugal addressed the opening ceremony.

12. From November 1 to 6, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion and Cultural Center of Philippines, a 3-member delegation of China International Culture Association led by Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA visited the Philippines and attended the 29th Annual Meeting of the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion. Dong Junxin made a keynote speech entitled China’s Cultural Policy and International Cultural Exchange at the meeting.

13. From November 14 to 22, a 2-member delegation from UAE Dubai Avis Foundation led by Abdul Hamid Ahmad, the Secretary-General of the foundation, visited China. The delegation visited Shanghai, Suzhou, Xi'an, Beijing and other places. Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CICA hosted a welcome banquet for the delegation in Beijing.

14. In November, CICA initiated the China Young Artists Project (CYAP) in cooperation with Beijing Beautiful Asset Investment Management Co., Ltd. CICA is in charge of forming an expert panel to select young artists, formulating plans for overseas exhibition and governmental cultural exchange years, making exhibition arrangements and handling related cooperation procedures, etc.

15. On December 7, the press conference for China Young Artists Project, jointly initiated by CICA and Beijing Beautiful Asset Investment Management Co., Ltd., was held in the Ministry of Culture.

In 2011, CICA organized a total of 15 activities of various kinds, including 3 exhibitions, 6 performances, 3 comprehensive exchange activities, 8 receptions of incoming visits and 4 outbound visits.
