The Sun, Moon and Stars in Western Han Frescoes inLuoyang
The Sun, moon and stars have found in the frescoes of the WeternHan Dynastyexcavated in Luoyang. Among 12 colored paintings, the first, from the east to west, depicted the sun, the seventh the moon and the other ten the stars.
Shi Shi Star Chart
The star chart is a systematic collection of the stars in coordinates, usually compiled by the astronomic observers after long-term observation. It is an important reference tool for astronomers. The earliest star chart in China is compiled by Shi Shen, who lived in the Warring Stated Period (about 4th century BC). In his book Astronomy, later known as Shi Shi Star Chart, he recordes the determinative stars of the 28 xiu and the positions of over 100 stars in the equatorial coordinate system. Shi Shi Star Chart is the oldest star chart known in the world today.
