The Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University (THAD) promoted its design of the Xiangshan Museum of the Founding of New China in an activity held in Beijing on May 13.

Xiangshan Mountain in Beijing has witnessed the revolutionary history of China. In 1949, the Communist Party of China Central Committee left Xibaipo village in Hebei province for Xiangshan, and set the place as its headquarters, where Chairman Mao Zedong issued the order to liberate the entire country.

To better reflect the revolutionary history when the CPC Central Committee stayed in Xiangshan, a program to renovate revolutionary memorial sites in the area and establish the Xiangshan Museum of Founding of New China was started in 2018.

The museum was opened to the public in 2019, and has attracted more than 700,000 visitors.

THAD was responsible for the entire design of the building. Many details in their designs have profound meanings related to revolutionary history. For example, the 28 pillars at the entrance of the main exhibition hall symbolize the 28 years of hard work of the CPC from its establishment in 1921 to the establishment of China in 1949.
