The Yicihui Stone Column is located in Shizhu Village, Dingxing County, Hebei Province.
From the first year (525) of the Xiaochang reign to the first year (528) of the Yong'an reign in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), Du Luozhou and Ge Rong led an uprising against the government and fought against the enemy in Dingxing, but were defeated. The local people buried the dead generals and soldiers together and built the monument that was first made of wood. Later the government of the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577) rebuilt the monument of stones, and carved the Carol of the Stone Column on it, which eulogized the virtues and achievements for the imperial government. That is the Yicihui Stone Column, which is also called the Northern Qi Stone Column. What have been carved on the column objectively reflected the historical facts of the peasant uprisings, which are precious materials.
The Stone Column, 7 meters high, includes the body of the column and the stone house. The stone house is three-bay wide and two-bay deep. It features a single-eave hip roof, and is carved with dougongs (wooden square blocks inserted between the top of a column and a crossbeam), loops, columns and other construction parts on the top of the stone house and statues of Buddha in the middle. It is an intimation of the house during the Northern Qi Dynasty. Between the column and house is a stone tray. The upper of the column is square while the lower is octagonal, and the base is just like overturned lotus. There is an inscription of more than 3,000 words engraved on the column, which describes the course of the uprising led by Du Luozhou and Ge Rong.
