Wu Yaozu

 

Wu Yaozu (1893-1979) was a main leader of Chinese Youth Christian Church and one of leaders of Three-self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches inChina.

He was born in a Christian family inGuangdongProvince. In 1917, he came into contact with the Bible and began to believe in it. In 1918, he was baptized and joined Chinese Youth Christian Church inBeijingin 1920. In 1943, his representative work,the Nobody has Ever Seen the God, was published. In 1950, he made a joint declaration with other Christian leaders. They called for realization of self-government and self-support. In 1979, he died inShanghai.

He left many works, includingSociety's Gospels,Dark and Bright,Scientific Religionand so on.
