Xiao Aihua

 

Xiao Aihua, one of China's best women fencers, was born in the city of Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu Province in March 1971. Starting to practice fencing at an early age, Xiao claimed the women's foil title in the National Junior Fencing Championships at the age of 15.

In 1989, she grasped the women's individual gold and help the Zhejiang delegation win the women's foil team in the National Fencing Championships. The following year, Xiao finished collected two world championships at the major international competitions.

At the 1994 Asian Games, Xiao swept the women's individual foil and team foil gold. The next year, she collected the individual and team titles both at the 6thInternational Women's Foil Invitational and at the National Fencing Championships.

In 1997, she was gold medallist of women's individual foil in the 8thNational Games. The following year, she finished 1stin women's individual foil at the World Cup and 7thin the World Fencing Championships. In 2000, she grasped the women's individual foil title in the National Fencing Championships.
