The Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA), founded in 1953, is a member of the All-China Sports Federation. The CVA is a national non-government, nonprofit organization. As an Olympic event organization recognized by the Chinese Olympic Committee, the CVA is the only legitimate organization that represents China in international volleyball organizations. The CVA is a formal member of the International Volleyball Federation and Asian Volleyball Federation.
Major tasks of the CVA are:
* to organize pubic volleyball activities;
* to organize national training programs for coaches nationwide;
* to organize national volleyball games;
* to strengthen contact and cooperation with international and Asian volleyball associations;
* to assist Chinese teams in participation in international games and training programs;
* to select players and coaches for national volleyball teams;
* to guide and evaluate volleyball games and training projects all over the country;
* to amend rules on judges and national competitions;
* to organize national training courses for judges, and hold exams and evaluations on judges;
* to approve judges on the national level;
* to report to the International Volleyball Federation on international judges in China.
Under the CVA there are seven committees, namely the Competition Committee, the Rules and Judges Committee, the Men's Coaches Committee, the Women's Coaches Committee, the Youngsters Volleyball Committee, the Research Committee and the Secretariat.
