Chinese Basketball Association

 

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) was founded in 1949. Its headquarters is inBeijing. It is a national non-government organization and a member of the All-China Sports Federation. The CBA is the only legal organization that representsChinain the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The CBA is also a member of the FIBA and Asian Basketball Federation.

Objectives of the CBA are:

* to increase the popularity of and public participation in the basketball inChina;

* to promote further success of Chinese basketball teams in the world;

* to strengthen friendship and cooperation with basketball associations and players all over the world.

Major tasks of the CBA are:

* to organize public activities to promote the popularity of and participation in basketball games, especially among young people;

* to contribute to the progress of world and Asian basketball;

* to assist organizing international competitions in accordance with rules of Chinese administrative organizations and international basketball bodies;

* to assist organization and hosting basketball competitions and training programs at all levels all over the country;

* to work out the basketball competition systems inChina, and also the game rules, regulations, and disciplines;

* to carry out these rules and regulations after they are approved by national administrative bodies;

* to assist training and evaluating players, coaches and judges and set up standards for the evaluation;

* to select and recommend players and coaches for the Chinese national basketball teams and assist their training and participation in international games;

* to select coaches to work and study abroad;

* to register and administer Chinese players training or playing games abroad;

* to assist organizing researches on basketball.

There are five committees under the CBA, namely the Men's Coaches Committee, the Women's Coaches Committee, the Committee for the Coaches of Junior Players, the Judges Committee and the Research Committee.
