The Chinese Fencing Association was founded in 1973. Its headquarters is in Beijing. It is a non-governmental organization and a member of the All-China Sports Federation. In 1974, Chinese Fencing Association became a formal member of the International Fencing Federation.
Major tasks of the Association are:
* to increase public interests in fencing and organize public activities;
* to assist training of young athletes;
* to hold training courses for coaches and judges;
* to examine and check the abilities of national coaches and judges;
* to work out standards of evaluating athletes;
* to amend, check, and approve regulations on fencing competitions and judging;
* to study and develop fencing equipment in order to cope with adjustments of international rules;
* to select and organize players to take part in international and national games;
* to organize international games in China.
Under the Chinese Fending Association, there are the National Committee, the Executive Committee, the Secretariat, the Coaches Committee, the Research Committee and the Equipment Committee.
