National Paralympic Committee of China

 

National Paralympic Committee of China (NPCC), a national, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization based inBeijing, was founded in 1983. It is a member of the All-China Sports Federation. It consists of local sports associations for the disabled in each province, self-autonomous region, and major municipalities in China.

Tasks of the NPCC are:

* to organize the annual national championships for Paralympic sports and other Paralympic sports events on a national scale;

* to organize and host Paralympic Games, Parlympic Games in the Far East and South Pacific areas and assist Chinese teams' participation in international games;

* to establish more bases for the sports of the disabled;

* to train disabled athletes;

* to guide the work of NPCC local branches.

There are two sub-organizations under the NPCC. They are the Chinese Sports Association for the Deaf and Chinese Sports Association for the Mental Deficient. The NPCC also has National Committee and General Office to deal with day-to-day work of the organization.
