Jilin Ginseng

 

Jilin ginseng, produced in Jilin Province, is regarded as the king of all Chinese traditional herbal medicines, and tops the list of the three treasures of Northeast China (ginseng, marten, pilose antler).

Ginseng is calledRenshenin Chinese, for it has the shape of ren (human). It is a precious medicinal plant that can increase physical and mental efficiency, improve the accuracy of work by promoting concentration, boost metabolism, help regulate body functions and strengthen the functions that regulate other body functions. Polysaccharides in ginseng are strong immune system modulators, making us highly resistant to disease. That's why "ginseng" was given the botanical name Panax, from the Greek, meaning "all healing".

China is the earliest country in the world that discovered, applied, cultivated and processed ginseng for medical purposes. The Chinese have long believed in the curative powers of ginseng and have for several thousand years applied the root to a variety of medicines and curative soups. The curative affects include all aspects of the restoration of body and mind.

There are two types of ginseng which are considered to be the real herb, or root. Panax ginseng, grown in Asia, has a warming effect on the body and is more potent; it is either white or red. The other, Panax Quinquefolius, is grown in North America, which has a cooling effect on the body.

Jilin ginseng, grown in Changbai Mountains of China is considered to be some of the finest cultivated Panax ginseng in the world. Its Panax ginseng has gained the reputation of the authentic breed with its high quality and mass production. Jilin ginseng is divided into the wild ginseng and the cultivated ginseng, the former of which has richer medicinal value. The wild ginseng grown in Changbai Mountains is said to be the most precious. The cultivated ginseng is divided into the kinds of Ji'an Lu and Fusong Lu by producing areas.
