In 1985, Chinese entomologist discovered this kind of insect of the Grylloblattodae order for the first time in Changbai Mountain area, northeast of China. Later, this insect was officially named as "Chinese Galloisiana ".
In 1988, it received first-grade national protection. Now, it is one of the two kinds of insects under first-grade national protection.
It is a member of the Grylloblattidae family of Grylloblattodae order in Insecta class, with few varieties. It is a type of medium-sized insect with long and thin physique. Its body length is 13 to 30 centimeters, in dark gray and with no wings. It has filiform antennae, small compound eyes and long cercopod which is very similar to that of two-tailed insects. It inhabits on mosses of high mountains at an altitude of 1,200 meters, under the blocks and in the soil.
