Little Bustard

 

It belongs to the Otidae family of Gruiformes order. Its scientific name is Otis tetrax (Latin), or Little Bustard (English).      

Its body length is about 41 centimeters with only three toes. The head feather of the male is tan with black spots, and its neck is black brown with white spots. It has brown upper back, white lower body and white spotted wings. Its rectrices are short and white, with brown end. Feathers of the female are similar to that of the male, but the back has large black spots.

The bird inhabits in grasslands and cultivated lands, usually forming subgroups of three or four. It is distributed in northern and western parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, feeding on botanic culms, leaves and grains, occasionally insects and mini-animals.
