Hainan perdrix belongs to the Phasianidae family, Galliformes order of Aves. Its scientific name isArborophila ardens(Latin). It is only distributed in the boundaries of Hainan Province, southern coastal province of China.
Its body form is similar to partridge, with a length 23 to 24 centimeters and a weight of 0.2 to 0.24 kilograms. Most of the upper portion of the body is assuming olive brown, with dotted black spots and maroon feather tip. The head is black with white auriculars, the chest salmon, and the belly white. The tail is comparatively short, less than half the length of the wing. The instep is bare and protruding.
Itusually inhabits in tropical rain forests and upland evergreen woods, moving about within bushy grove in woods alone, or in pairs and subgroups. It mainly feeds on insects and different kinds of plants.
