Tomb of Shaohao

Shaohao is the son of Yellow Emperor(Chinese:黄帝), the man regarded as the common ancestor of all Chinese people. He built his kingdom in Qufu and was best known for his moral education.

The tomb lies in the east of Qufu, about 4 kilometers away from the urban area. It is 28.5 meters in width and 8.73 in height. Often called Chinn’s Pyramid, the tomb resembles the pyramids built by the ancient Egyptians for the pharaohs and their queens, though less magnificent.

First built in 1012, the tomb covers an area of 24,700 square meters. Today, 17 ancient buildings and 22 seltas, as well as about 390 ancient trees, exist in the complex.
