To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, 10 artistic masterpieces from France are on show at China's National Museum in Beijing.

Open from April 11 to June 15, the exhibition features paintings from five French museums, including Hyacinthe Rigaud’s most famous work, Louis XIV, from the Palace of Versailles; Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette from the Musee d’Orsay; and Pablo Picasso’s Matador from the Musee Picasso Paris, which are shown to a Chinese audience for the first time.

A congratulatory letter from French President Francois Hollande said that art is a special medium in the cultural exchange between China and France and the exhibition can best reflect French art.
