Lang Lang performs in Venezuela under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel

 

Chinese pianist Lang Lang and the Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezolana - conducted by Gustavo Dudamel - presented a program of classics from composers such as Tchaikovsky and Chopin for over 2500 spectators in Venezuela on April 25, 2013.

The event was an initiative of El Sistema, a publicly-financed music education program in Venezuela, which aims to educate children from low socio-economic backgrounds – and thus keep them away from crime and drugs.

Highlight: Lang Lang and Dudamel are famous around the world, and the event marked the first time that the Chinese pianist Lang Lang visited Venezuela – and also the first time that he has performed with Dudamel and the Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezolana. Lang Lang also visited underdeveloped areas of the country to help children improve their music skills.
