Beijing International Design Week

Beijing International Design Week (BJDW) 2013 was held during from Sep. 26 to Oct. 3rd. More than 30 property projects, 100 home life brands, 40 4S stores under 10 auto brands along with a number of high-profile business participated in the event. Beijing Design Week, an annual international event focusing on design, was launched in 2009. Every year, exhibitions, forums and other activities are organized across the city to promote creative exchanges with other international cities. More than 200 activities took place during the 2012 event, bringing in deals worth 5.6 billion yuan (US$ 891.7 million).

Highlights:

BJDW Design Gift worked with 15 designers, including established names such as Yeh Yu-hsuan and up-and-coming ones like Zhang Chen, to design BJDW Design Gift. First editions of more than 100 products were sold in the 751 art zone. Products were also available at high-end retail stores, gift shops and bookstores around Beijing, as well as on online shops. The products will also be featured at the New York International Gift Show and the Milan Design Week next year.

BJDW also collaborated with Lexon, a French design brand that has more than 5,000 stores in 85 countries around the world, to help Chinese designers reach a bigger audience. BJDW 2013 also set up numerous venues in the city allowing independent and part-time designers to showcase and sell their work.
