The 4th International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The 4th International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage opened in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan province.
At the opening ceremony, various stage performances and a grand parade were held. Under the theme of Inheritance and Dream, this year’s festival ran from June 16 – 23, and attracted delegations from over 100 countries and regions.
Events included displays of intangible cultural heritage, international forums and Chinese traditional opera performances. The biennial festival was established in Chengdu in 2007 with the purpose of building a cultural and commercial exchange platform for countries across the world.
Highlights:
One special event from this year was the China Arts and Crafts Fair, which featured porcelain, jade, paintings, embroidery and other treasures on show.
The Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival coincided with the 10th anniversary of the promulgation of the UN Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Convention.
