The Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute, a non-profit public institute, was initiated in 2004 to promote Chinese language and culture, support Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitate cultural exchanges.

Highlights:

China inaugurated the Confucius Institute U.S. Center in Washington in November. The center in the United States can provide a closer-to-home service platform for the schools and universities hosting the institutes. It can also offer the U.S. public an open and transparent channel to learn about Confucius Institutes, as well as a way for the institutes to conduct cooperation and resource sharing.
