During the festival, many exciting activities are going to be held, such as the Christmas Ice and Snow Carnival, "Star of Hope" charity skiing, foreign Cultural Show, and the Forth Changchun Ice and Snow Tourism Exchange Conference, ice and snow photography contest, the second Jilin Agricultural Winter Fair and the Jingyuetan Chinese New Year fair, Xiangshan wine festival, ice and snow riddles festival, Nanhu Ice city, New Year walk and winter swimming performances.

This is the 14th ice and snow festival and ninth Vasaloppet international skiing festival, also the first large-scale festival of Chuangchun in 2011. The ice and snow festival is divided into four major skiing products, three major skiing parks, and four major activities. The skiing parks are well–equipped with ski magic carpets and other advanced tools.

Compared to festivals in the past, the venues of this festival are also changed. First of all, the new Vasa Museum opened on December 24. It is located in jingyuetan Park, covering 1,500 square meters, with construction area of 2280 square meters. Second, the Vasa doors and field of opening ceremony is close to the Vasa Museum. The snow sculpture is changed into a relief snow wall of 50 meters long, 10 meters high and 3 meters thick. The total amount of snow used reached 12,000 cubic meters. Third, a snow sculpture garden with 56 snow sculptures has been built in the Vasa Museum. The Lianhuashan skiing park also newly purchased 1000 sets of double-board and the single-board park will be equipped with the first one maximal air cushion in the three province of the northeast China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning).
