The highest peak in Mangshan Park is 640 meters above sea level. You can see different scenery when you climb the stairs. There are about 3,666 stairs here, the longest staircase in Beijing, as a ladder straight into the sky. The Mangshan figure of Buddha in the middle of the hill is 9.99 meters tall and weighs 3000 tons. It is known as the biggest one in North China. On the top of the mountain, there is a man-made lake, the Ming Tombs Pumped Storage Power Station. It is the largest artificial lake, with a water storage capacity of 4 million cubic meters. When it stores water, tourists can boat in it. The Mangshan viewing tower is mirrored by the lake. It is said that the tower was built in the Ming dynasty. It is 37 meters high, with 7 floors, and made of brick and wood. Tourists can overlook the scenic panorama of the Ming Tombs, and appreciate Beijing from distance. Air conditionss: the forest area is about 600 or 700 hectares. With forest coverage of 86% or more, it is also known as the forest of the magnificent Ming Tombs. There are 130,000 Mu artificial forest, and 176 kinds of trees and flowers. Thus it is green in all seasons. It is also the biggest national forest park of Beijing.
