The Yan-Huang Art Gallery【 2010-05-18 】

The Yan-Huang Art Gallery, located at Yayuncun (the Asian Games Village), is Beijing's first large modern art gallery. It was sponsored by celebrated Chinese painter, Huang Zhou, and built with donations from art lovers from all walks of life, both at home and abroad. Its collection consists mainly of contemporary Chinese paintings, and also includes ancient Chinese paintings and calligraphy, cultural relics and other works of art.

Situated on Liulichang, Beijing's antique street is the architecturally important Songtangzhai Folk Carving Museum. Privately owned by manager Li Songtang's family, this gallery is a two-story building from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and is the best-preserved architecture in the Liulichang area.

Founded early this year by talk show host and celebrity Cui Yongyuan, the 650-square-meter museum houses hundreds of copies of the Story of Movie, a documentary project Cui himself initiated in early 2003 to record the stories of early Chinese films.
