Cambodian King returns home from China's Shanghai World Expo

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni returned home on Sunday afternoon after attending the celebration of China's National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 at the invitation of China.

Beside attending China's National Pavilion Day celebrated on Oct. 1, the Chinese National Day, King Sihamoni also met with top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and visited his parents who have been in Beijing for a routine rest and medical checkup there.

Meanwhile, King Sihamoni also visited other countries' national pavilions during his stay in China, including his country's pavilion.

Meeting the King at the Phnom Penh International Airport were Cambodian Senate President Chea Sim, National Assembly President Heng Samrim, Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chinese Embassy Counsellor He Leping, as well as other members of the Royal family.

The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial Expo. The hosting of the World Expo must be applied for by a country and approved by the international World Expo committee.

The name of the mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is Hai Bao, which means the treasure of the sea.

The emblem, depicting the image of three people-you, me, him/her holding hands together, symbolizes the big family of mankind.

The theme of Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life," representing the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future urban environments.
