The South Africa Pavilion is at Zone C of the Expo site.
South Africa is famous for its Chenin blanc and Sauvignon blanc wines. Located at the southern tip of Africa, South Africa boasts favourable conditions of soil, temperature, humidity and sunshine for grape cultivation
Chenin blanc used to be a predominant grape species in South Africa and wines produced with this grape feature fragrances like rose petals and honey. Premium South African Sauvignon blanc wines, however, have a mixture of fragrances of tropical fruits, vanilla, nuts and asparagus, wine tasters introduced on the opening ceremony.
South African cuisine favours chicken, beef and seafood as basic materials and uses spices like black cardamom, clove, fennel and chili to create rich and strong flavours.
South Africa is the ninth largest wine production country in the world, with more than 700 million litres of wine produced in 2009.
