This photo taken on June 30 shows Daming Palace's Danfeng Gate of the ancient city Chang'an, present-day Xi'an, in Northwestern Shaanxi province. The ancient Silk Road, which served as a corridor for trade and cultural exchanges between Asia and Europe 2,000 years ago, was inscribed on the World Heritage list on June 22. The application - involving 33 historical sites, including 22 in China, eight in Kazakhstan and three in Kyrgyzstan–was jointly submitted by the three countries. Seven of the sites are located in Shaanxi province– Weiyang Palace, Daming Palace, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xingjiao Temple Pagoda, Tomb of Zhang Qian and Great Buddha Temple.
