WU Wenguang, a pioneer of the Chinese independent documentary, is born in 1956 in Kunming (Province of Yunnan).
He is one of the most influential directors of the Chinese "New Documentary Movement" during the 1990’s. He produced the fascinating series "My Village" that gave farmers the opportunity and the cameras to film their own village.
