SU Tong

SU Tong, a prolific author, was born in the province of Jiangsu in 1963. His short stories and novels often present female characters living in Imperial or Republican China. Among others, SU Tong’s works include Raise the Red Lantern (adapted to the screen by ZHANG Yimou), Rice, Painted Faces, Paper Ghosts, and My Life as Emperor. One can say that the novelist has, in his own way, rewritten the history of China.
