Paying Homage to Holy Mountains Festival

Paying Homage to Holy Mountains Festival is celebrated on fourth day of the sixth Tibetan month.

The festival, or Choekhor Duechcen in Tibetan, is also called "Holy Mountains Festival." It is held to commemorate Sakyamuni's first sermon. People, in their best conduct during the session, go to monasteries to pay homage to the Buddha. People, doing their very best to honor the Buddha, go to monasteries to pay homage. Walking around various holy mountains is also a popular practice during the festival.
