The Beauty is staged as a dialogue through time and space between the two women, an enigma in 19th century China when the country was buffeted by political upheavals and crises and a contemporary legend that shines on the entertainment world of China. "When she (Liu Xiaoqing) stands on the stage," says Tian Qinxin, the director, "she does not play Sai Jinhua. She is Sai Jinhua."

After the successful debut in Beijing on April 19, 2012, the drama embarked on a national tour, which anticipated more than 100 shows in seven provinces.
