Chinese Calligraphy Concert for the Olympics

 

During the London Olympic Games 2012, “2012 Chinese Calligraphy Concert for the London Olympics” will be held on August 10 at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London to display the charm of Chinese calligraphy and promote Olympic spirit. The concert is to be jointly hosted by China Calligraphers Association, Center for International Cultural Exchange of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, and Austria-China Culture Exchange Association.

Chinese calligraphy, as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, contains diverse Chinese cultural elements and profound national spirit. It has become a specific symbol of Chinese culture. At the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games 2008, the “Ink Dance” won the cheering of the people around the world.

Zhao Zhi, the producer of the concert, said: “the 2012 Chinese Calligraphy Concert for the London Olympics” will be jointly performed by China’s famous calligrapher Li Binquan, new London Symphony Orchestra and Britain Contemporary Ballet.
