Chinese Graphic Design Exhibition

Zheng Hao, director of the China Cultural Centre, said the exhibition shows that while the world is changing rapidly and becoming more and more like a global village, the old values and principles found in traditional folk wisdom still feature among the array of sources that artists around the world employ.

A foreword to the China Beyond Graphics exhibition catalogue notes that the openness and tolerance inherent in Chinese culture is also evident in Chinese contemporary graphic design.

While embracing ideas and vistas from other countries, Chinese graphic designs respect and pay homage to time honoured cultural traditions.

"This exhibition is a taste of Chinese graphic design illuminating the country's path to development over the past two decades.

"Posters, logos, packaging, book covers and designs for the 2008 Beijing Olympics are showcased," the writer of the guide remarks.
