Early Spring in February

Right after the May 4th Movement in 1919 passed like a storm over the Chinese land, feudal thoughts are still dominant. Blindness and backwardness are still found in society, especially in towns and villages. Xiao Jianqiu, a young man with high aspirations, comes to Furong Town at a friend's invitation to teach at the local school. He wants to realize his own ideal through the cause of education. He does all he can to help his departed comrade's family-Wensao and her two children. He falls in love with his friend's sister. They share the same faith and ideal. But he becomes the target for local gossip. Wensao kills herself for her child dies and the gossip won't stop. The tragedies make Xiao dizzy, but they also wake him up. In the end he waves farewell to Furong Town and decides to throw himself into more active fights against old society.
